Isara Laboratories
Academic Research Grant

Academic Research Grant Program

Isara Laboratories invests in foundational research that advances the frontier of general artificial intelligence. The Academic Research Grant provides full financial support to university faculty pursuing work aligned with our research priorities.

1. Program overview

The Isara Academic Research Grant is designed to support university faculty members at accredited research institutions. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis to faculty whose research intersects with Isara's core areas of interest, including agentic RL, self-improvement, evaluation methodology, multi-agent RL, and related fields. The program provides full funding for the duration of the agreed research period.

2. Eligibility

Applicants must hold a faculty appointment at a recognized research university. This is a highly selective program; we expect to fund a small number of grants each cycle, prioritizing depth and quality of proposed work over volume.

3. Funding structure

Isara provides academic grants to universities, which provide financial support to cover direct research costs, including personnel (PhD students, postdocs, research assistants), equipment (compute software and hardware), and conference travels for the agreed project scope. No overhead beyond these costs, indirect cost recovery markups, or discretionary administrative fees may be charged against this grant.

4. Intellectual property

All intellectual property, inventions, and work product arising from research funded under this program are owned exclusively by Isara Laboratories, Inc. Grant recipients agree to assign all rights, title, and interest in funded work to Isara as a condition of the award. Publication of research findings is encouraged; however, any material intended for publication must be reviewed and discussed with Isara in advance to ensure that proprietary methods, data, and company intellectual property are appropriately protected.

5. Application process

There is no fixed application deadline. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis. To apply, send a research proposal (no more than four pages), a current CV, and a brief statement of how the proposed work connects to Isara's research interests.
